3 Card Poker Tip One – Starting Hands The optimal strategy for playing the Ante/Play bet is quite simple. Play anything above a Q-6-4. This was calculated by Stanley Ko in his book Mastering the Game of Three Card Poker. Q-6-4 has a negative expectation, which basically means you will lose less with this combination than if you just folded the ante every time. For those playing just Pair Plus bets, Ko determined you will get a pair once in every 4 hands. 3 Card Poker Tip Two – If You Bet One If you are only going to bet either the Pair Plus or the ante/play, choose the Pair Plus. Based on your initial pair plus and ante bets, the house edge is 2.3% for the Pair Plus bets. Compare this to the Ante wager it's 3.4% and you should come out ahead with just the Pair Plus. 3 Card Poker Tip Three – Bankroll This is especially important to the recreational gambler having a good time. This game can be very social and have entertaining tables. Keep in mind when playing that you are wagering three times if you are playing the pair plus, ante and play bets. Make sure you do let a good time distract you and take away your gambling bankroll. It is always recommended to set lose and win limits, it is especially true at tables that can be fun to play at. |
